Evil Dead 2 (1987)

Synopsis: So after the first night in the cabin from hell, Bruce Campbell as Ash, is back for more. In fact, at first it seems that he comes back to the same cabin with a new girl. This doesn't make much sense, but after they get owned again, the last scene of the sequence is exactly the same scene they ended the first movie on. So I was pretty confused. But I just figured that he was there all along and didn't leave, which would make sense for a sequel. Anyways, so Ash is there, and the family of the professor that was in the cabin decides to go check it out. They meet Ash there while he's fending off the demons with his chain saw. Violence and hiliarity insues.

Should You Watch It? This is truely a master piece in terms of gore and horror for its time and really sets the bar for future horror filim makers. But should you watch it now that it's been 20 years removed? Well, I guess the only reason you would watch this film is to see where modern horror cinema gets its inspiration. Everything about this movie is nuts and crazy, and ultra violent. The blood this time comes in gallons instead of pints and redder than ever.

Things to Watch Out For: Other than the really weird storyline, this movie is just like the first installment but with even more mayhem. This is a prequel to the much heralded The Army of Darkness which finishes the triolgy. I have not seen The Army of Darkness myself, but I heard great things and this movie definitely leads into it brilliantly. But yeah, nothing really to watch out for except the gore, but you already know that from the first one.

Things You Don't Expect: This movie continues to find new ways to shock the living hell outta people. I mean, a chain saw to the head is pretty great, but I mean, when you attach it to your body and own some ass, that's really pushing the envelope. Even today, with movies like Hostel and stuff, they just can't quite seem to get to that next level like Evil Dead.
