Synopsis: Well folks, this is the first big film of the summer and it features none other than our favorite friendly neighborhood Spiderman! He's back and this time in black as he not only battles the Goblin, Sandman, Venom, but most importantly, himself. He goes through his latest adventures on a roller coster of twists and turns, ups and downs, with enough loop de loops to make your head spin! I'm not going to give too much away because most people can guess what the movie is about, but the ending might not be as predictable as you might think!
Should You Watch It? Well if you love Spiderman, you should watch it. Hell, if you're a fan of action films then you should watch it. Or if you're just a fan of films in general. This movie is not a bad choice for any audience as it brings a different element to each age group and personality. Again, not going to go into every small detail of the film but just stress again how many dimensions this film has. It is a true action film, but it is definitely a film for the masses.
Things to Watch Out For: Alright, I know I'm going to get blasted for which ever side I take, but I don't care, I'm going to say it anyways. This film, to me, is a throw back to the good ol' days of super heroes. The days of one liners, over the top story telling, dry humour. All of it is put into this film and it is brilliant. I applaud the direction the writer and director decided to go with the story. And on many levels it makes sense. The down side to this is that I don't think many people will understand/appreciate this move and as a result, many parts of the film will seem "cheesy" and out of place. Some scenes might just seem stupid and slows down the film. So be prepared for that and go in there with an open mind. And if you really hate it, then just turn off your brain during those parts and gear yourself up for the great action sequences which are plentiful.
Things You Don't Expect: There are so many surprises in this film that it's amazing. Of course we knew that Venom was going to be in it, and that was the biggest news coming into the premier but man was it small compared to some of the others. Some purests out there will think that the writers deviated too much from the story but in retrospect, the writers did exactly what they had to do to fit it all in the film, and even though some parts seem a bit forced, and over dramatized, or maybe even unneccessary, they are very minor and doesn't hurt the film overall. One more thing. They did Harry Osbourn brilliantly and James Franco was magnificent. Not only did they make his character a complete psycho path, but at the same time they made him human with a nice story line. And finally, if that wasn't enough for you, he rides around in a glider that's like a snowboard, but his snowboard can cut you up, burn you up, or blow you up. It was sweet.
